Marina residents and business are invited to participate in a Community Survey on what they want to see in a new Police Chief.

The City of Marina is asking help in selecting its next Police Chief.

Community Input Survey, which can be found at www.cityofmarina.org, is available online through Monday, Feb. 13, 2023. It asks members of the community to answer questions about what theypatch resize_ want to see in the city’s next chief, including qualifications, priorities and leadership qualities.

Marina residents have a say in what the city looks for in its next Police Chief by participating in a survey.

The survey which launched January 30th consists of six short-answer questions asking residents what issues they would like to see addressed, as well as the characteristic and expertise they would like to see in the next Police Chief.

The position opened in October after the former Police Chief Tina Nieto was elected as Monterey County Sheriff. Nieto departed at the end of December and Interim Chief Steve Russo is currently filling the role.

The City has engaged the professional recruitment firm of Peckham and McKenney to assist with the nationwide search for the City’s next Police Chief.  Following the survey, the recruitment will kick into full swing with applicants submitting their interest by March 31, 2023.  The selected new Chief is expected to be on board by the middle of summer 2023.
