NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The City of Naperville informs residents and interested parties that the Municipal Officers Electoral Board met today, Dec. 12, on objections to three candidates’ nomination petitions for the upcoming 2023 Consolidated General Election.

The local electoral board, which is comprised of Mayor Steve Chirico, Naperville City Clerk Pam Gallahue and Naperville City Council member Paul Hinterlong, heard evidence regarding objections filed on Dec. 2 and 5 against the City Council nomination petitions of Nag Jaiswal and Derek McDaniel and the Mayoral nomination petition of Tiffany Stephens.

In Case Number 22-01, Zega V. Jaiswal, the Board found in favor of Candidate Jaiswal, granting a motion submitted by the Objector to withdraw the objection petition and dismiss the case. Neither party appeared for the hearing, and the decision dismissing the case is final and appealable.

In Case Number 22-02, Ahmadpour V. McDaniel, both parties appeared before the Board and a hearing was completed. The Board found in favor of Candidate McDaniel, voting 2-1 to overrule the objection. The Board's decision is final and appealable.

In Case Number 22-03, Ahmadpour V. Stephens, both parties appeared before the Board. A hearing was opened but then continued at the request of the parties so that both parties may issue subpoenas for documents needed for the hearing. The hearing on the Stephens objection will resume on Dec. 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. The hearing will be broadcast live on government access TV station WCNC (Ch. 6 – Astound, Ch. 10 – Comcast, Ch. 99 – AT&T) and streamed live via the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us.
