The exhibits, Bold and Inspired: Native American Regalia by Diana Lee along with Abstract Island Expressions by William Lee, will be on display beginning Thursday, June 22, through Thursday, January 4, 2024, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, 1821 NW 21st Ave, Ocala, FL. Both exhibits are free and open to the public. Bold and Inspired will be displayed on the first floor, and Abstract Island Expressions on the second.
Married couple Diana and William Lee are exhibiting their work in side-by-side exhibitions for the first time. Each exhibition has its own distinctive style and theme reflecting each artist and their different approaches.
Diana Lee is a recent resident of Ocala, Florida. She received her Doctor of Psychology in Neuropsychology and had a successful career working for the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department at the University of Miami. Since retiring from the University of Miami, Diana has focused on her art. Her colorful acrylic paintings are inspired by her Cherokee ancestry and experiences visiting Native American sites in Kentucky as well as her participation in the vibrant Junkanoo Parades in the Bahamas.
William Lee was born in Nassau, Bahamas. He received an Associate Degree in Fine Arts and an Associate Degree in Photography from Miami Dade College. While he’s always been artistically inclined, William only recently returned to creating art. He has exhibited his artwork in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Budapest, and the Bahamas. In Abstract Island Expressions, William revisits his childhood growing up in Nassau with his vibrant abstract expressionist paintings.
