PALMDALE – Seniors and families in need received food baskets, and parents visited the South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) popup Toy Store as part of the City’s holiday distribution. Nearly 1,500 people were served through the program, including 200 Senior households and 210 families.

“What a perfect first day to serve as Palmdale’s Mayor,” shared newly appointed Mayor Laura Bettencourt at the event. “To see the smiles on the faces of these parents as they select a gift for their child is my Christmas present.”

Each year, SAVES distributes baskets around the Christmas holiday. The baskets include a large portion of meat and other essential ingredients for a traditional holiday meal, including stuffing, canned vegetables, muffin mix, rolls, fresh vegetables, and fruit. 

Parents or caregivers are guided through the SAVES “Toy Store,” where they select toys and gifts for their children from the donations received.

SAVES provides a practical and caring approach to serving people in need. In 1983 SAVES opened to assist individuals and families experiencing a temporary emergency.
