The City of Roswell will host its annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Heart of Roswell Park on Canton Street on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 6 to 9:00 PM. The celebration will include activities and holiday performances for the whole family! The Lighting of the Christmas Tree is free to attend and is the perfect celebration to kick off the winter holiday season.

Canton Street between Norcross Street and Magnolia Street will be closed (similar to Alive in Roswell), creating a holiday atmosphere that extends into the downtown business district.

At 6:00 PM, the Heart of Roswell Park will fill with holiday music, fire pits and family-friendly fun. The festivities will begin with remarks from Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson, and an enchanted holiday performance by a cappella group, Atlanta Vocal Project.

Prior to the lighting of the tree, Mayor Wilson will lead a special reading of the holiday classic 'Twas the Night before Christmas. Following the reading, the 40-foot Christmas tree will be lit and Santa Claus will arrive from Fire Station No.21. Santa will be on hand until 9:00 PM to take pictures with families. Kids will also have the opportunity to write and send Letters to Santa the North Pole bound mailbox.

Fire pits will line the Canton Street sidewalks and ingredients will be available to roast marshmallows and make s'mores. Free coffee, hot chocolate, cake pops and cookies will be provided by Starbucks while supplies last.

In addition all of the fun at Heart of Roswell Park, the Historic Town Square will be concurrently activated with Deck the Square, 37 community-decorated Christmas Trees. The public was invited to rent a tree to decorate in the Square, and the lights will be lit in sync with the tree at Heart of Roswell Park. Deck the Square is available to view anytime throughout the holiday season until January 2, 2023.

The Lighting of the Christmas Tree and Deck the Square are free to attend. For more information about Holiday events in Roswell, please visit www.roswellgov.com/holidays.
