The most wonderful time of the year is here: holiday lights season! This year we are opening the contest on Friday, November 25 so you have plenty of time to get your entry in. Here's how it works: Set up your holiday lights, snap one photo, and send it in to [email protected] with a location provided. We only accept one photo per entry so be sure to share your best shot!
Entries are open from Friday, November 25 to Thursday, December 15. After that, all entries will be voted on through social media and the winner will be announced on the first day of winter, December 21! The winner will receive a special sign to put in their yard to show everyone that they rocked the lights this holiday season! All entries must be self-nominated.
Every year, Mayor Michelle Distler hosts fundraising efforts to help local organizations of her choice. This year, Mayor Distler chose Shawnee Community Services and Mercy and Truth Medical Missions as recipients! There are several ways you can help out including online donations, the hit Dine at the Vine event at Wandering Vine at the Castle, bluebird box dedication plaques, purchasing a Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund candle, shirt, holiday card or ornament at the Shawnee Town 1929 Gift Shop. For full information, including details on how to make an in-person donation, visit cityofshawnee.org/mctf!
