From: City of Stamford

On Monday, I was thrilled to welcome Senator Chris Murphy, Senator Richard Blumenthal, and Representative Jim Himes to Stamford to highlight the $1.81 million in federal funding the City received through the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership grant.

This funding will go toward completing phase II improvements at Boccuzzi Park, including an addition of a splash pad and water play area, re-location of the tennis and basketball courts, a playground and tot lot, multi-use lawn space, and additional parking.

Parks play a vital role in the social, economic, and physical well-being of cities and their residents and I am grateful to our federal delegation for their advocacy in securing this funding for Boccuzzi Park, which is a gem in Stamford.

The park will also be transformed by the presence of the new SoundWaters Harbor Center. The Center will provide unparalleled access to educational training and recreational opportunities to our shoreline and students will be able to develop and learn life and job skills, as well as experience training and study on Long Island Sound.

I was honored to join in the celebrations for Italian Heritage month, which recognizes the achievements, culture, and contributions of Italian-Americans living in the United States. Stamford has a rich history of Italian-American immigrants settling in our City, and I join in celebrating their many contributions to our community.
