Columbia, MO -  Known as a year-round, producer-only market, Columbia Farmers Market kicks off its Winter Market Season on Saturday, November 1, from 9 am-12 pm, under the MU Health Care Pavilion at Columbia's Agriculture Park (1769 West Ash Street). As the market moves into cooler temperatures, vinyl walls and heaters will be used, allowing the farmers' market to operate in the same location as the summer market. The market will also hold a Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday, November 25, from 3-6 pm. This special market will feature Thanksgiving staples such as sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, baked goods, meats, and cheeses.

The Winter Market will be open on Saturdays from 9 am until noon, from November to March. The Winter Market will be closed on Saturday, November 29th, Saturday, December 27th, and Saturday, January 3rd to observe the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holidays.

Although local food has gained momentum and popularity throughout the country, eaters often don’t know what farmers are able to grow or produce during the winter season. At Columbia Farmers Market, many of our producers use growing techniques such as the use of high tunnels to extend their production year-round. Other vendors store fresh produce in temperature-controlled areas on their farms, such as a root cellar, which creates the availability of root vegetables throughout the winter. All winter, other products available at the market include meat, eggs, honey, cheese, sweets, prepared food, baked goods, and body products.
