Connecticut Audubon Society : birding the North Atlantic with Allison Black

Clubs and Organizations

February 28, 2023

From: Fairfield Migration Madness

Greetings!

Allison Black sets sail in about a week on a North Atlantic voyage. But before she does, she's made time to tell you what it's like to spend weeks on the ocean searching for seabirds and sea mammals.

Allison, who lives in Connecticut, is a seabird and sea mammal observer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

She's got a boatload of great sea stories.

She'll be telling them — and sharing her photos — this Thursday, March 2, at 7 p.m.

Her presentation is the third of this year's Young, Gifted and Wild About Birds series.

You can register for Allison's presentation and the 2 still to come by clicking HERE .

Remember: 100% of your ticket cost for this series will go toward improving bird habitats on our 22 sanctuaries.

At check-out, you'll have an opportunity to make an additional donation, if you choose to. Consider it an investment in our nature sanctuaries, improving habitat throughout the state.

You'll feel great knowing that while you're participating in these awesome presentations, you'll also be helping Connecticut's birds.

After Allison, we'll have

-Mikko Jimenez of Colorado State University: "Tracking Migration with BirdScan," Thursday, March 16, 7 p.m.

-Kathi Borgmann, Ph.D., Cornell Lab of Ornithology: "From Sound Recording to eBird Status and Trends Maps: How Citizen Science Informs Bird Conservation," Thursday, April 13, 7 p.m.

These hour-long talks are all via Zoom.

Each is a window into the amazing work being done by young conservationists to solve the problems we all care so much about.

I invite you to subscribe to buy tickets to all 3 or to choose individual presentations. Click HERE!

Your generosity will make a real difference.

Thank you! Please let me know if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Tom Andersen

Director of Communications

P.S. Allison will be introduced by Matt Bell of our EcoTravel program. Matt himself is young, gifted and wild about birds. He''ll conduct the Q&A with Allison too. Matt's life list stands at 1,084 species and includes a lot of the seabirds that Allison will be talking about. It promises to be a lively conversation.

Don't miss out. Register HERE!
