Featured Poet: Arrie Lane

Arrie Lane is a mother, poet, actress, writer & director, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Arrie has placed in the top three of myriads of slams around the country over the last year. She is currently a finalist in “The Motown Mic: The Spoken Word Competition” by Motown Museum. In September of 2021 on all streaming platforms, she released her first spoken word album, “Organized Chaos Vol. 1”. Arrie believes art breaks down barriers and is one of our greatest tools of healing. Art, to a creative, is oxygen.

Visit the Contemporary Art Center Resident Artist Studios where artists create, display and sell their work. Enjoy the unique and creative talents of local artists. While here, enjoy art exhibits in three galleries.

On the 3rd floor, see the studios of Tanya Bayer, Kaye Berry, William Butler, Elizabeth Davis, Duffy Armstrong Farrell, Julie K.W. Harkless, Larry Hendricks, Bennett Johnson, Darlene Jones, Richard Kirchgessner, Donald Mason, Kagan Masters, Ilva McBrayer and Joy Johannes Miller. In the Side View Gallery on the 2nd floor, see the work of Preston Jackson, Natalie Jackson, Joy Kessler and Aareon Boyd. The public is invited to this open house style events.

Artists of Mannekin Press

February 24 - April 14 - Preston Jackson Gallery

Jonathan Higgins and Sarah Smelser’s Manneken Press in Bloomington invites significant contemporary artists to collaborate with master printmaker Higgins to create original works in intaglio, relief, lithography and monotype. The prints are sold in galleries, museums and high-end art fairs in major cities. This exhibit includes 15 of the 30 artists they represent.

Hattie Lee: Joy Intwined

February 24 - April 7 - Gallery 3R

While a member of the Cherokee Nation diaspora, Hattie Lee also recognizes she is a collage of cultures. Just as families and societies are shaped by each generation, she collages into her work metaphorical and physical materials from ancestors and personal experience. Injecting joy while bridging cultural and generational differences creates hope for tribes, countries and personal communities.

CAC Artist's Member Group Exhibition

March 3 - April 15

Opening day is March 3rd during 1st Friday 5-9:00pm, the public is welcome to view the art exhibit with award ribbons displayed. There will be no formal programming this evening.

The public is also invited to the Closing Reception on Saturday, April 15, 6-8:00pm. There is no charge to attend the 1st Friday event or the closing reception.

Contemporary Art Center of Peoria's Artist Member Group Exhibition at Studios on Sheridan

Artists enrolled in the Contemporary Art Center’s Artist Membership program (CIAO) return to the Studios on Sheridan, 929 N. Sheridan Rd, Peoria IL, for a dynamic group exhibition featuring one work of art from each member covering the mediums of drawing, ceramics, fiber, sculpture, painting, printmaking, furniture and more.
