September Gaming Revenues Down; Sports Wagering up 37.68%

Deadwood, SD - According to statistics released today by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, Deadwood’s overall gaming revenues were down 4.64 percent over September of 2022, with slot machine handle decreasing by 5.18 percent, when compared to September of 2022. The table game handle increased by 1.40 percent when compared to 2022 September’s table game handle. Deadwood’s sports wagering handle was up 37.68 percent when compared to September 2022. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,542,759 in "free-play" for the month of September, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $12,927,083 for September of 2023.

"September's revenue decrease puts our YTD increase up 2.63 percent,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “Sports wagering’s YTD increase is up 25.25%. Deadwood sports book operators fell just short of their goal of a million dollar month for sports wagers.
