On Nov 15th, Delegate Kannan Srinivasan won the Democratic nomination for the State Senate District 32 seat being vacated by Congressman-elect Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10). With the special election set for January 7, 2025, Srinivasan will begin his general election campaign.

Del. Srinivasan currently represents House District 26 as the first Indian American immigrant elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. As a delegate, he has advocated for the health, safety, and well-being of Loudoun County residents and policies that benefit all Virginians. With Democrats currently holding a 21-19 majority in the State Senate, it is critical that Del. Srinivasan wins this seat.

“Kannan Srinivasan will be an effective, thoughtful, and pragmatic state senator because he has already proved to be a principled and strong advocate for residents of Loudoun County, passing eight different bipartisan bills through the House and Senate just this year,” DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker said. “We must keep our Democratic majority in the Senate to continue advancing policies that lower costs for working families and protect our fundamental freedoms.”
