Chicago, IL – In response to the election of Ken Martin election as the new Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Ken on his election as Chair of the DNC. It was important to me that our next DNC Chair is someone who deeply understands how state parties operate and knows how to support and strengthen them. With Ken Martin, I know that we’re in good hands. By setting an example for a strong state party, and as President of the Association of State Democratic Committees, Ken’s leadership has been instrumental in helping shape the foundation of DPI.

Democrats must commit to a national strategy that empowers and invests in state parties across this country. Ken shares that conviction and with his leadership, the DNC will be well-positioned to raise funds, invest in critical battlegrounds, and speak directly to the working families suffering under MAGA extremism.
