Bethel United Church of Christ is pleased to present the Edgewater Ensemble Woodwind Quintet—a Chicago-based wind quintet comprised of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn—in concert on Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. The group takes great pride in performing music composed by marginalized composers as well as the traditional wind quintet literature.
The concert program will include compositions by Dr. Gary Powell Nash, Mélanie Bonis, Valerie Coleman and Florence F. Price.
Artists include Steve Yepez, flute; Jenny Mallette, oboe; Adrian Munive, clarinet; Lamar Curtis, bassoon; and Erika Hollenback, French horn.
Pianist and artistic director of the concert series Jeffrey Panko will join the ensemble for a performance of Frances Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to perform the early 20th century chamber music masterpiece the Poulenc Sextet for Piano and Winds. Poulenc’s score expertly showcases each of the six instruments in his beloved light-hearted, satirical musical style,” said Panko.
A wine reception will follow the concert.
