MADISON, Wis. — On Oct 8th, at the Rotary Club of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Press Club Newsmaker luncheon, Eric Hovde announced his Hovde Plan to cut crucial programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the PACT Act, and more.

Hovde said he wants to “duplicate the budget from 2019,” which would mean huge cuts to Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits, and Medicaid, which helps pay for nursing home care for Wisconsin seniors. It would also mean a complete rollback of the PACT Act, which is funding the treatment of millions of veterans who were exposed to burn pits overseas, and measures that cap the price of insulin at $35/month for seniors.

The Hovde Plan is clear: Hovde wants to cut benefits for seniors, roll back benefits for our veterans, and let insurance companies jack up drug prices on working Wisconsinites.

Watch Hovde talk about the Hovde plan to roll back our earned benefits here.

The Hovde Plan includes an extreme set of cuts that would devastate Wisconsinites, including:

  • Raising the retirement age as high as 72 years old.

  • Cutting Social Security and Medicare benefits, costing over one million Wisconsin seniors thousands of dollars per year.

  • Repealing the Inflation Reduction Act, letting insurance companies jack up the prices of prescription drugs like insulin and ending Medicare negotiation, making Wisconsinites pay more.

  • Slashing veterans’ benefits and defunding the PACT Act, which brought health care and benefits to tens of thousands of Wisconsin veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits overseas.

At the same time as he pushes this disastrous plan for Wisconsinites, Hovde plans to pass a $4 trillion tax break for the wealthiest people in America, including himself. What’s wrong with this guy?
