From: Guilford County SchoolsSoutheast High staff member celebrated for helpful nature
Greensboro, N.C. – Serving up a cup of coffee at the Falcon Fuel coffee shop, Ginger Newell was in her element, greeting students and assisting the Southeast High student workers who help take coffee orders and handle money. But on Wednesday, the crowd wasn’t just there for the coffee. They gathered to surprise the Exceptional Children’s teacher assistant with the news that she is the December GCS employee of the month.
Newell has worked at Southeast High since 2005, primarily as a teacher assistant, but she’s also connected to the school as a parent and volunteer. The colleagues who nominated her expressed their appreciation for her helpful nature and commitment to the Southeast Falcon family.
“Ginger's exceptional dedication and service at Southeast Guilford High School, where she has worked with OCS/Life Skills students for over two decades, deserves this recognition,” wrote SparkLab leader Nicole Baize. “Her outstanding patience, commitment and the pivotal role she plays in covering for teachers during medical or maternity leaves make her an invaluable asset to our school and the entire district. Furthermore, Ginger's continued involvement with FFA and the Hunter Safety Team, long after her own children graduated, demonstrates her unwavering dedication to the success of Guilford County Schools.”
Newell received a $50 gift card courtesy of the Greensboro Jaycees. During the month of December, her photo will be displayed at the district’s central offices, at Southeast High and in the Greensboro Jaycees office.
