Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom
The library's month-long observance of this historic march for civil rights, concludes this weekend with a series of family programs at the Main Library and South End Branch.
Programs presented in partnership with 100 Black Men of Stamford; Domus; Fairfield County (CT) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated; the Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut; the Mayor’s Multicultural Council; Stamford Community; and Stamford NAACP.

The Blues and Beyond, a cross-cultural program that teaches history through the eyes of music, presents a performance by keyboardist Eric Finland and a presentation by The Blues and Beyond's Director of Narration and Masterclass Artists, Adam Taylor. Community youth will also recite poetry. All ages.

Documentary Screening: The March: The Story of the Greatest March in American History

The library will present morning and evening screenings of the 2013 documentary narrated by Denzel Washington which recounts the historic 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Rated PG. Teens and adults. Registration required.

Community Mindfulness Project: Meditation

The library's new Storywalk® features Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall. This sweet story about overcoming your fears features a charming little boy who is almost ready to take a leap off a diving board and gets some encouragement from his patient father. Walk the park and read the story through September.
ONGOING AT THE LIBRARY
Earn Volunteer Hours by Reviewing Books
The Ferguson Library offers volunteer hours to teens in grades 6 to 12 to write book reviews. Reviews will be featured on the library's Youth Instagram page and displayed with reviewed books at the library.
Teens may submit up to two book reviews per week. For each review approved by a librarian, teens will receive one hour of volunteer credit.
Reviews may be edited for clarity and will list the reviewer's first name, last name initial, and grade, unless the reviewer specifies anonymity. Questions? Call 203-351-8242.
By registering for programs, you may receive occasional emails about upcoming events at the library. You can opt out at any time.
