Scientology Volunteer Ministers share practical life tools with curious passersby on the National Mall
WASHINGTON, D.C. — With their bright yellow tent standing tall just outside the U.S. Capitol, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers welcomed curious passersby, tourists, families, and community members to experience practical help—right when and where it’s needed most.
Whether helping a child who fell off his bike near the tent or giving guided tours through educational displays, the Volunteer Ministers (VMs) were unmistakable in their mission: to deliver real-world tools to restore purpose, truth, and spiritual values to life. As one of the world’s largest independent relief forces, the VMs serve communities around the globe with unconditional help in times of crisis and everyday life alike.
Their motto—“Something can be done about it”—was on full display in the nation’s capital, offering free one-on-one help and access to the 19 Scientology Tools for Life courses. These tools, based on the writings of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, address everything from improving communication and relationships to resolving stress, conflict, and confusion.
Created in the 1970s, the Volunteer Minister program has now trained hundreds of thousands of individuals—Scientologists and non-Scientologists alike—both in person and online. The signature yellow tent has become a symbol of relief and care, appearing in disaster zones, underserved neighborhoods, and now, on the National Mall.
Watch out for more sightings of the yellow tent in the near future.
