Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Goosehead Insurance, Metzler Agency, a 2025 Make More Happen Award for its dedicated partnership with ecoREHAB, a nonprofit committed to advancing the community through sustainable design, rehabilitation, and education. This recognition includes a $5,000 donation to ecoREHAB, which can be doubled to $10,000 through online support from the community.

The Goosehead Insurance, Metzler Agency and ecoREHAB story is featured on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/goosehead-metzler-agency, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the story receives at least 500 combined votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be increased to $10,000. 

Growing up in a family plumbing business, agency principal Scott Metzler learned early on the skills and values that the trades offer. When he saw an opportunity to apply those skills and connections to ecoREHAB’s mission, he jumped in wholeheartedly. ecoREHAB’s Skilled Trades Education Program (STEP) provides at-risk youth with construction training while also equipping them with essential soft skills like communication and conflict resolution. 

Scott has dedicated countless hours to transforming ecoREHAB’s new headquarters—an abandoned lumber yard—into a thriving training center. He has taken on the hard work of clearing brush, painting, and making repairs. He spearheaded the first grant to build an outdoor multi-use space for classrooms and fundraisers, secured sponsors for fundraising events like the annual Oktoberfest, and regularly organizes opportunities to introduce local businesspeople and partners to the organization’s mission. 

Scott recently witnessed the true impact of ecoREHAB when speaking with a STEP graduate. The student had no one to invite to the graduation ceremony—STEP had been the first place where he felt supported, cared for, and encouraged to succeed.  

“Our agency knows the importance of being supported and having the right resources when confronted with challenging times. ecoREHAB is more than a training program—it’s a place where young people find belonging, support, and hope,” said Scott Metzler, agency principal at Goosehead Insurance, Metzler Agency. Metzler has served as ecoREHAB’s board president and continues to be a committed community connector. 

With a $10,000 Make More Happen Award, ecoREHAB could build indoor restrooms at its training facility, replacing outdated portable units. This essential upgrade would allow the program to expand enrollment and host more community events—strengthening ecoREHAB’s mission to transform both lives and neighborhoods.

Throughout 2025, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications showcasing their commitment to a specific cause.
