Government and Politics
December 6, 2022
From: Louisiana Governor Jeff LandryBATON ROUGE, La. — Beginning tomorrow, Gov. John Bel Edwards will host a series of events during the holiday season to thank the faith community and community organizations for their dedication and hard work to move Louisiana forward in partnership with his administration since 2016.
The events will gather local faith and community leaders of different backgrounds, where Gov. Edwards will give brief thank you remarks before taking time to visit individually with attendees. The events will be open to the media.
While the Governor’s deep personal faith is well known, over the past seven years he has repeatedly called on the faith community to aid in his efforts to overcome Louisiana’s toughest challenges. These known, trusted community leaders have been instrumental in enrolling Louisianans in Medicaid expansion, helping the state with hurricane and flood response and recovery, encouraging COVID-19 mitigation measures and vaccine uptake, combatting human trafficking, helping increase the adoption of our children, and serving as a social anchor in times of unrest.
Logistical details will be released in the Governor’s public schedules, but we can share that events are planned in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans media markets. The Governor’s message of thanks will also be shared statewide on the Governor’s social media accounts with content throughout the holiday season.
