Proclaims November 10-16 as Veterans Week

Helena, MT – Governor Greg Gianforte on Nov 8th, proclaimed November as Veterans and Military Families Month and November 10-16 as Veterans Week in Montana.

The governor’s proclamation can be viewed here and below.

WHEREAS, the State of Montana is home to one of the highest per capita populations of veterans in the United States, with nearly 90,000 veterans, thousands of service members, and their families; and

WHEREAS, members of the U.S. Armed Forces answer the call to serve, making tremendous sacrifices in defense of our freedoms and way of life; and

WHEREAS, behind those who serve are brave families whose support allows service members to focus on the challenges and missions they face in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, the State of Montana has enacted policies to support the men and women who serve and have served our country, including exempting up to 50 percent of military retirement pay from the state income tax and establishing educator licensing reciprocity for military members, military spouses, and veterans; and

WHEREAS, we live in the greatest country on Earth thanks to the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes and their families;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Greg Gianforte, Governor of the State of Montana, do hereby proclaim November 2024

VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES MONTH

and November 10-16, 2024

VETERANS WEEK

in Montana to show our extraordinary appreciation and gratitude to veterans, service members, and their families.
