From: Virginia Governor Glenn YoungkinRICHMOND, VA – Governor Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin on Aug 15th, donated a quarter of the Governor’s salary to two, Harrisonburg-based nonprofits that play a crucial role in supporting Virginia’s agricultural community: The Farm Ministry and the Rockingham County Fair.
This contribution reflects the Governor and First Lady’s ongoing commitment to sustaining and nurturing the heart of Virginia—its farming community. The donation will help support the critical work being done by The Farm Ministry to provide food assistance and educational resources to those in need, as well as the efforts of the Rockingham County Fair to foster the next generation of agricultural enthusiasts.
"Supporting The Farm Ministry and the Rockingham County Fair is about more than just a donation—it's an investment in the heart of Virginia,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “By empowering our agricultural community and nurturing the next generation, we are ensuring that our state's rich traditions and the spirit of hard work continue to thrive for generations to come."
“It’s a true privilege to support The Farm Ministry in distributing food to those in need and to invest in the next generation of agriculture enthusiasts through the Rockingham County Fair’s new show barn,” said First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin. “These efforts not only uplift our farmers and youth but also ensure that their hard work benefits the entire community.”
“We are honored that The Farm Ministry has been chosen for the generous salary donation on behalf of Governor Youngkin and the First Lady,” said founder of The Farm Ministry Keith Turner. “Their support has allowed us to advance our mission of providing people in need with local fresh wholesome meat and dairy products. With this donation, we will be able to expand and strengthen our operation to reach even more people in need.”
“Our fair's 4-H and FFA livestock numbers continue to grow, which is amazing. However, this growth requires our fair board to make decisions on how to handle these large numbers of show animals,” said General Manager for Rockingham County Fair Rebecca Holloway. “We, the Rockingham County Fair Association, are extremely honored and grateful for Governor Youngkin and the First Lady's donation for our newest barn to benefit our 4-H and FFA Market Animal Show. The support received from Governor Youngkin and the First Lady for the Rockingham County Fair, 4-H, and FFA is absolutely amazing and deeply appreciated.”
The Governor and First Lady encourage all Virginians to join them in supporting these vital causes and to continue working together to build a stronger, more resilient future for the Commonwealth’s agricultural community.
