RICHMOND, VA - Governor Glenn Youngkin on Oct 10th, issued Executive Directive Eight, deploying targeted resources in response to the Emergency Management Assistance Compact Request from the State of Florida to help respond to Milton’s effects. Virginia's response will focus on preserving life, preventing destruction of public and private property, and protecting the environment. The targeted resources include a Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team from the Virginia National Guard and Chesterfield County Fire and Emergency Medical Services and elements of a Virginia National Guard horizontal engineer company, a truck company and general purpose company.

“As Florida begins to recover from Hurricane Milton, while still grappling with the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we understand the significant challenges that lie ahead,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “We are grateful to our first responders and national guard members who are helping our fellow Americans get back on their feet during this difficult time.
