ANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Wes Moore today delivered remarks at the Maryland Fleet Week opening ceremony in Baltimore. The week-long celebration, which is free and open to the public, honors the dedication of service members who defend our freedoms at sea and in the air, both past and present.

“We are proud to have our United States Navy and Coast Guard showcase what our state has to offer to the nation,” said Gov. Moore. “Fleet Week returning to Charm City further proves that, more than ever, this is Baltimore’s time. Baltimore is open for business.”

Taking place this year in locations across Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Fells Point, North Locust Point, and Martin State Airport, Fleet Week offers opportunities to explore vessels, providing a window into naval life across history, in addition to maritime and aviation STEM activities and educational programs. 

“The Navy is thrilled to return to Baltimore for Maryland Fleet Week and Flyover Baltimore,” said Naval District Washington Commandant Rear Admiral Nancy Lacore. “This event offers a unique opportunity for the community to engage with our nation's maritime services, meet our dedicated sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, and get a firsthand experience of America’s Navy.” 

This year’s fleet includes United States Navy and Coast Guard vessels and Army Corps of Engineers vessels, in addition to many traditional sailing craft and working vessels. Ships will be open for public tours from Thursday, June 13 through Monday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. Flyovers of modern and historic military and civilian aircraft will also take place June 14-16 over the Inner Harbor. 

"We are proud to host Maryland Fleet Week and Flyover, which offers the ideal time for Maryland residents and visitors to enjoy this magnificent event celebrating our rich maritime heritage," said Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson. "This event not only allows us to showcase our beautiful Baltimore waterfront, but the many attractions, restaurants and other cultural offerings throughout the city."
