TALLAHASSEE, FL - On July 11, 2025, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Layla Collins to the State Board of Education. This appointment is effective August 1, 2025. 

Layla Collins

Collins is a Veteran of the United States Army. During her service, she acted as a liaison between the United States Army and Government Agencies throughout her career and was selected to serve in the 1^st Special Forces Operational Detachment. Collins attended American Military University. 

This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
