Principal Surprised with National Award – The principal at Pilot Elementary will be surprised with a national award. The STREAM Educator Award from the STREAM Foundation celebrates visionaries in education and spotlights educators who go above and beyond to introduce students to Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts and Manufacturing. At 1:00 p.m. the school will surprise her with an assembly where the founder of the STREAM Foundation will formally announce the award and let her know that she will receive a paid trip to California to accept it.
College Night – High Point Central High School will host a massive college night. Ahead of free application week, the school is giving students the opportunity to meet with representatives from different colleges and universities to learn about academics and scholarship opportunities. The event is from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Millis Men – Millis Road Elementary will host its monthly session on male empowerment. Started by the school’s assistant principal, the program is an effort to provide a positive male influence on young men and expose them to community service. Each month is dedicated to a specific character trait or pillar related to social-emotional learning. Guest speakers are invited to discuss certain topics, the group also has outings that allow them to observe positive male role models and encourage them to be leaders.
Who Loves Good News!? You!
Digging Deep – Students at Swann Middle School are digging deep to learn what lies below their campus. Students are working on the “Cypress Street Archeology Project” to learn more about the school and find artifacts that could give them clues on what and who lived and worked on the street before the school was built.
Notes for Notes - Guilford County Schools (GCS) is the home of one of the first in-house recording studios in the country. The district partnered with the nonprofit Notes for Notes to create the organization’s first recording studio in a public school in the United States. The studio provides opportunities for students to record their own music and learn skills that can prepare them for futures in the entertainment industry. The space is free and serves as a model for the future of arts education in a public school system.

Update: Immunization Clinics – 7th and 12th grade students who are missing their required Tdap and MCV immunizations can get them at school with parent permission.
