From: Harvest Homecoming FestivalHarvest Homecoming is a group of volunteers dedicated to providing a family oriented festival. It unites the community in a spirit of fellowhsip and is committed to continuous improvement.
Schedule of Events:
September 16, 2024 - October 9, 2024:
12:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Baby Photo Contest
Photos accepted from 9/16/24 through 10/9/24 (by 5:00PM)and may be dropped off at HHC Office with $5 application fee. Applications must be signed by parent or guardian.
All participants will be given a ribbon upon entering contest. Photos must be 4x6 or smaller, color or black and white, professional or candid. Two Categories - up to and including 17 months, also 18 months up to and including age 3. Must be residents of Floyd, Clark, or Harrison Counties.
A panel of judges will select a boy and a girl winner in each category. Photos will be judged on October 9th and photos will be displayed at the Samtec Cares Stage during Booth Days.
Winners will announced and trophies will be presented at the beginning of the Baby Crawl
Contest on Saturday, October 12th. Photos will not be returned.

9:00 AM: Harvest HoopFest 3X3 Outdoor Basketball
3-on-3 basketball at the area's best outdoor courts. Double-elimination format.
Two-game guarantee. Rosters may include up to four players. Referees will call fouls and administer each game. Affordable! $50 per team.

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Floyd County Library and Harvest Homecoming 2024 Photography Competition
Entries accepted September 23, 9:00 AM - September 28, 5:00 PM
Amateur & professional photographers can enter this contest to have their work displayed in the New Albany Central Library October 5-16, & for a chance to win cash prizes.

September 25 - 26, 2024:
5:00 PM: Window Paint-In
Local NAFCS students show their talents in representing the Harvest Homecoming theme "Autumn Sock-Hop". Students, including those with special needs, from 15 schools provide themed artwork covers on over 60 windows in over 30 businesses using more than 6 rolls of tape.
Art will be displayed in local business windows starting September 26th.

7:30 PM: Kevin Hammer Smith "Name That Song" Dollars for Scholars
College tuition will be awarded in a fun evening of a song-naming game show.
Any high school senior living in Floyd County (attending NAHS, FCHS, Providence, Christian Academy, Community Montessori, Clark County, Harrison County, Home School (or any other private school) may enter.
Random drawings for chances to play as the evening goes on.
Sign up, show up, get drawn, play, and you could win Free scholarship dollars in various amounts.
We will confirm registration on arrival at the check-in table that night.

8:30 AM: Harvest Bicycle Tour (46th Year)
Packet pickup and late registration will begin at 7:30 am.
Opening announcements approximately 8:30 am, and mass start begins at 9:00 am from Lanesville Heritage Park. Cycling helmets are mandatory for all participants. Cyclists under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The pre-registration fee is $45 per adult, and $15 for children 12 and under, prior to September 21, 2024. Fees after this date are $60 for adults, and $15 for children 12 and under.

10:00 AM: Harvest Baking Contest
Contest entries for your homemade pie, cakes, cookies and breads should be dropped off between 10:00-11:00 am at Sweet Stuff Bakery located at 323 E Spring St., New Albany, IN 47150
No professional bakers, please.
Judging: Begins at noon and winners will be announced at 2:00 pm.
Contestants may not enter more than 2 items per category. Entries must be fully baked and submitted in disposable containers. Each entry must include a separate paper with the name and ingredients of your baked good and ingredients used.
Scoring: Each contestant will be assigned a number for judging. Please do not put your name on any baked entry. Entries will be judged on taste, appearance, and original use of pumpkin and/or fall fruits and vegetables.

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Harvest Homecoming Family Nature Walk
Elementary school-age children and their families are invited to discover Indiana forests! We'll learn why our forest are a valuable resource, how to identify trees we find in our forest and enjoy a guided walk along the park's beautiful 3/10 of a mile forest trail.

1:45 PM: New Albany Track Club Harvest Kids Run
Parking Lot Behind Carnegie Center at Bank St & E Spring St, New Albany, IN
Annual final race for the NATC school series brings kids and families downtown offering the kid runners a different environment for the race.
Kids strategically run 2 short one mile round-trip races along part of the parade route ahead of the parade to help involve the community.
All school-age ranges are seen in this event & season-end meeting follows at end of the race. First race starts at 1:45 pm second race starts at 2:30 pm.

2:30 PM: Harvest Homecoming Opening Ceremonies
The official kick off to the 2024 Harvest Homecoming Festival complete with music, full parade narration and broadcast (WNAS), special guests, various food vendors, and the best seats in the house for the annual Harvest Homecoming Parade.

3:00 PM: Harvest Homecoming Parade
Come experience over-the-top floats, vintage cars, and loud bands with our Autumn Sock-Hop parade. The parade kicks off at 3:00 pm from New Albany High School, marches down Vincennes Street, then takes a right on Spring Street, and ends on Bank Street. 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Drop-off: 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm • Judging starts at 3:30 pm • Winners announced: 4:00 pm
Annual Festival event for kids through adults where talent meets fun pumpkin decorating with community celebration and achievement. All pumpkins are to be pre-decorated, there is no active painting or decorating onsite. Group or individually prepared pumpkins may be painted or decorated with any material.
Craft entries may be ceramic, fiber or mâché. No previous year craft entries accepted.
There will be 2 Grand Champion Awards (1 from the 'Individual' category & 1 from the 'Group' category) for entry most closely related to this year's theme, "Autumn Sock-Hop"
All entrants receive participation ribbon. Event is free!
Harvest Homecoming pins available for $5.00.
All pumpkins must be picked up and taken from event.
Any leftover pumpkins will be thrown away.

4:30 PM: Purdue Pumpkin Chunkin' Event
Did you ever want to build a trebuchet (treb-yoo-shet)?
Can you hit the Great Pumpkin target from up to 100 yards away using a gravity powered trebuchet launching 7 to 10 lb. pumpkins?
Sign up as a team to compete or come out to watch and see which team is the best.
Setup and practice at Noon - 3:00 pm
Open to the public at 4:00 PM (parking, food trucks & booths)
Qualifying starts at 4:30 pm • Competition begins at 6:00 pm

BINGO - games for the Senior Living Community and their families.

Friday evening of the festival, tethered rides (weather permitting) will be available for purchase at 5:00 pm for $20 per person.
The hot air balloon glow will begin at 7:30 pm.
Tethered rides will still be available during the balloon glow until 9:00 pm.

7:30 PM: Harvest Homecoming Blind Draw Cornhole Tournament
This will be a blind draw for partners tournament:

Trophies will be given for First, Second and Third place.

12:00 PM: Harvest Home Decorating Contest Sponsored by Pat Harrison - ReMax
Entry deadline is Saturday Oct. 12, 2024 at noon. Judging same day to follow. The contest is open to all homes in Floyd County, Indiana. The home must be owned or rented by the person entering the contest. An apartment building will be a single entry. Judged on originality, use of color, the "Autumn Sock-Hop" theme and overall appearance. The decisions of the judges are final. Plaques and prizes awarded for 1st - 3rd places.

The Little Miss & Master Pageants are a fundraiser for the Miss Harvest Homecoming Scholarship Pageant. Contestants should come dressed in their best fall fashions and will be asked an on-stage question. First, second, and third place awards will be given in each category:
Petite Little Miss & Little Master (3yrs - 5yrs),
Little Miss (6yrs - 8 yrs), and Little Miss Pre-Teen (9yrs - 11yrs).

Come experience the best this community has to offer including art, crafts, organizations, food and fun. We invite those with aversion to crowds or mobility limitations to enjoy Booth Days in a less crowed, calmer environment.
This extra hour is voluntary and not all the booth vendors may be open.
