Join New Bedford Whaling docents Capt. Michael Taylor and Nancy Gentile for an engaging look at A Day in the Life of the Lagoda and a Whaling Voyage. This illustrated program explores 19th century whaling through the lens of crew life, ship design, global trade, and the evolution of the industry -- from New Bedford to the Arctic and beyond.

The lecture also features Sister Sailors: Whaling Wives, spotlighting the women who sailed alongside their husbands. With live demonstrations of baleen and harpoons, this dynamic presentation brings the world of whaling vividly to life.

Fridays, Summer 2025

Time: 9:00 - 12:0 noon

Location: Different Site Each Week

As summer unfolds, the Friday Painters of Hull-an inspiring collaboration between the Hull Lifesaving Museum and Hull Artists-continue to explore the town’s beauty through art.

Each week, we share a new painting location that showcases the natural charm and scenic variety of Hull, from windswept seashores and historic landmarks to sweeping vistas and tucked-away private gardens.

We start early to make the most of the morning light and wrap up before the midday sun gets too strong.

All are welcome-free and open to artists of every level. There’s no instruction provided-just bring your own supplies, find your view, and enjoy a peaceful morning of plein air painting.

A chair, sun hat, and water bottle are highly recommended!
