Helena, MT — The Daily Montanan is reporting Governor Greg Gianforte is joining candidate Tim Sheehy in pushing dangerous false claims about abortion and deceiving voters by spreading disinformation.

Gianforte recently joined Talk Back Missoula where he spread misinformation about CI-128. The facts are CI-128 protects the right to abortion before fetal viability and protects patients when their life is at risk.

Multimillionaire out-of-stater Tim Sheehy also made similar false claims on the debate stage against Senator Jon Tester in June. Sheehy’s lies were fact-checked by the Helena Independent and PolitiFact. KFF reported:

“Abortions after 21 weeks gestational age are only 1% of those done in the U.S., and ‘claims of abortions occurring ‘moments before birth’ or even ‘after birth’ are false. These scenarios do not occur, nor are they legal in the United States. Abortions done later in pregnancies are often because of medical issues such as fetal anomalies or the mother being at risk of death.”

“Both Greg Gianforte and Tim Sheehy have extreme and dangerous visions of stripping away women’s reproductive freedom and privacy and have proven they have no problem spreading false claims in order to promote their extreme and unpopular agenda,” said Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Sheila Hogan. “Montanans deserve leaders fully committed to protecting their individual freedoms. ”
