From: Idaho Governor Brad LittleBoise, Idaho - Governor Brad Little announced today the recipients of the 2024 Governor’s Cup scholarships to Idaho colleges and universities. Last year’s Governor’s Cup fundraising drive brought in enough money for 25 new scholarships to be awarded this year.
The selection process, overseen by the 12-member board of directors of the Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship Fund Inc., involved assessing more than 3,000 applicants. Recipients were chosen based on their demonstrated dedication to public service, academic excellence, leadership qualities, and community engagement.
The Academic Scholarship offers $5,000 annually, renewable for a maximum of four years, and the Career-Technical Education Scholarship amounts to $3,000 per year for a program duration ranging from two to three years.
The list of this year's scholarship recipients, along with their respective high schools and chosen educational institutions for the upcoming fall semester, is as follows:
Academic Scholarships - Four Year Programs
Cecil D. Andrus Excellence in Education Scholarship
Jim Schmit Excellence in Leadership Scholarship
Career Technical – Two- or Three-year Programs
"We are truly impressed by the recipients of the 2024 Governor’s Cup Scholarship. These students have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to their communities and the state, and we are thrilled to see them evolve into Idaho's future leaders," Governor Little said. “Our gratitude extends to the generous sponsors and donors who contributed to the scholarship program last year. Fostering opportunities for these students has consistently been the core mission of the Governor’s Cup and being able to continue that legacy is important.”
The Governor and First Lady hosted a reception honoring the recipients today at the Idaho Historical Museum in Boise.
The 2024 Idaho Governor’s Cup annual fundraising event will return to Coeur d’Alene Sept. 5-7, where the continued support from numerous donors will allow the scholarship fund to continue serving students next year.
