Newsflash for the IL GOP: the Vice President is a voice for every American
Chicago, IL – In response to Illinois GOP Co-Chair Aaron Del Mar dismissing Illinois voters in an interview, the Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:
“On Oct 1st, co-chair Del Mar, someone who’s allegedly tasked with advocating for Illinoisans, said that JD Vance won’t ‘be speaking to the people of Chicago or Illinois, for that matter.’ The people Del Mar claims Vance will ignore are farmers, school bus drivers, nurses, and small business owners across our state–the sort of folks who are the backbone of Illinois. Newsflash for the IL GOP: the Vice President is a voice for every American.
“In further display of the IL GOP’s disarray, Del Mar tried to distance himself from Donald Trump’s ‘antics’ while attacking members of his party with enough common sense to condemn Trump and Vance. Let’s be clear, what Del Mar dismisses as ‘antics’ have led to an insurrection and bomb threats to school children in Vance’s home state of Ohio.
“Governor Walz, on the other hand, is a former public school teacher and a lifelong Midwesterner who understands middle-class values. This debate is really all about two drastically different visions of America: the Harris-Walz vision of a New Way Forward for our country where everyone—in Red and Blue states, in urban and rural communities—has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead, versus the Trump-Vance plan to drag Illinois–and our country–backwards. As for Del Mar’s suggestion that the majority of Illinois voters won’t buy into the divisive Trump-Vance platform—we agree.
“Vance may not be speaking to the people of Illinois, but we will be watching, and we will be ready to do the work to defeat Vance and Trump in November.”
