INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A caucus of Precinct Committeemen in State Senate District 48 was called by the State Chair to fill a vacancy for State Senator created by the resignation of Mark Messmer, who won his primary race for the 8th Congressional seat.
The winner of the caucus was Daryl Schmitt on the 2nd round of voting. Daryl Schmitt will fulfill the final two years of the Senate District 48 term, which is up for reelection in 2026.
