KANSAS CITY, MO - Kansas City duo Katy Guillen & The Drive  - led by music + life partners Katy Guillen (vocals/guitar) and Stephanie Williams (drums) - have released their sophomore album Make That Sound via Are and Be Recordings.

Along with the album, the duo have released the focus track/video for “Love You For All Time.” This song is a love anthem, “written for the love of my life [Steph]. It’s about staying strong together through the distractions and outside forces that may test our relationship. No matter what, I’ll love you for all time.” – Katy Guillen

The video premiered today on FAME Magazine who noted: “Love You For All Time hits as the emotional core of Make That Sound — a fierce, unfiltered ode from Katy to Stephanie, her partner in music and life. The video mirrors that devotion in full color — two souls locked in rhythm, pushing through the noise, proving that real love doesn’t fade, it fights back.”

Katy Guillen & The Drive prides itself on fostering empowered spaces for women in music both onstage and off, and performances showcase the group’s signature all-female powerhouse formation, technical prowess, and electrifying chemistry. This core value heavily influenced the band’s second full-length effort Make That Sound, produced by Megan McCormick (Allison Russell, Amythyst Kiah). Guillen admits, “Having never worked with a woman in the studio, that’s something we wanted to change on this record. We wanted more female energy, ideas, and power to influence this album.”

By bringing more feminine energy into the recording process, Katy Guillen & The Drive achieved one of their most expansive and vulnerable albums to date.

In addition to McCormick, the band was fortunate to work with engineers Brandon Bell (Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell) and Annie Petrik on tracking and mixing, as well as mastering engineer Kim Rosen (Bonnie Raitt, Allison Russell). The band will be partnering with Nashville-based indie label and artist collective Are & Be Recordings for the release.

Katy Guillen & The Drive have just wrapped a U.S. tour opening for Robin Trowers. Next, they will embark on their headlining tour to support Make That Sound throughout the fall. Confirmed dates below.

ABOUT KATY GUILLEN & THE DRIVE | Katy Guillen & The Drive – Katy Guillen (guitar/vocals) and Stephanie Williams (drums) - dropped their first EP, Dream Girl, right before the 2020 lockdown, leaving them without opportunities to perform live. In their basement rehearsal space, they spent the year learning home recording and pre-production techniques, gradually crafting a collection of songs from the ground up. With producer/engineer Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket, Heartless ********, Ray LaMontagne) at Invisible Creature Studio in Los Angeles, they emerged with a batch of 15 songs. At the end of 2021, the band released the four-track Battles EP. Ten more would comprise their full-length debut Another One Gained in 2022. The Pitch (Kansas City) called it “a living, breathing testament to how life continually changes against your own will, whether you’re ready or not.” While Uncut Magazine raved, “Guillen & The Drive hit the sweet spot with a mix of spiky garage rock and soulful country torch songs.”  Make That Sound will be their sophomore full-length album, available on Are and Be Recordings, October 17, 2025.
