From: Puerto Rican Cultural CenterAtabey cacona guari! (Blessings!)
I hope this message finds you in good spirits. I’m writing with an urgent request for support.
For 28 years, our nonprofit cultural center has kept Boricua culture and joy burning bright in Central Texas - through music, dance, theatre, and education - uplifting our community and preserving the heritage of our Ancestors.
This year, we face a crisis. National grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities - the very programs that have sustained our work for decades - were cancelled.
You have to travel to faraway cities - like Chicago or Nuevayork - to enjoy another cultural center like ours. Without these funds, essential programs -- like our Salsa & Heritage Festival (which brings Puerto Rican masters to Austin) and our annual Community Theatre Musical (teaching our true history through performance) - are at risk.
We are Subtle Activists!
While the current political climate would rather see cultural education silenced, together we can keep the beacon of cultural light and joy burning, strong, visible, and celebrated.
Please consider making a generous year-end, tax-deductible gift! Your investment in our Legacy will ensure our youth and community stay connected to our roots - through the music, stories, and spirit of Puerto Rico. It takes a village to raise a child - we are that village for them and for each other.
Thank you for standing with us in solidarity and pride.
