Holiday Schedule

All library facilities will be closed on Saturday, December 24, Sunday, December 25 and Monday, December 26. We will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, December 27.

We will also be closed on Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2 for New Year's Day.

Kwanzaa: Community Gatherings

Tuesday, December 27, Thursday, December 29, & Saturday, December 31 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

South End Branch

A multi-day celebration of Kwanzaa and its seven principles, where you will learn about the cultural holiday and join in lighting the candles. Additional activities include: on December 27, a presentation of The Black Candle: A Kwanzaa Celebration, a documentary narrated by Maya Angelou; on December 29, fun with craft-making; and on December 31, recreation with Kwanzaa coloring sheets.

Kwanzaa: A Stamford Celebration

Wednesday, December 28 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Government Center, 888 Washington Boulevard

A community celebration hosted by Mayor Caroline Simmons and featuring Stamford Health physician Dr. Tabitha Fortt and drummer/storyteller Gina Levon Simpson. Co-sponsored by Domus, the Ferguson Library South End Branch, the Mayor's Multicultural Council, the Stamford Kwanzaa Association and Stamford Stands Against Racism.

Harry Bennett Branch

All ages are invited to putt their way through the Harry Bennett Branch as it is transformed into a miniature golf course.

Tickets are $5 per player, per round.

Kids under three play for free.

Refreshments served at the 19th hole.

Ongoing At The Library

Earn Volunteer Hours by Reviewing Books

The Ferguson Library is offering volunteer hours to teens in grades 6 to 12 to write book reviews. Reviews will be featured on the library's Youth Instagram page and displayed with reviewed books at the library.

Teens may submit up to two book reviews per week. For each review approved by a librarian, teens will receive one hour of volunteer credit.

Reviews may be edited for clarity and will list the reviewer's first name, last name initial, and grade, unless the reviewer specifies anonymity. Questions? Call 203-351-8242.
