The Crusades - An Overview

Monday, March 6, 10 a.m., free

The Crusades lasted nearly two hundred years, and remains a bizarre and fascinating episode in human history. What induced European royalty and peasants to walk three thousand miles to fight? How did the Crusades change history? Local historian and lecturer, Joshua Hoffman, will discuss these and other significant aspects of this remarkable time period.

Art Gottlieb presents: Amelia Earhart

Tuesday, March 7, 10 a.m., $10, pay at the door

 A pioneer in the field of aviation and women’s rights, Amelia Earhart was lost during a circumnavigation of the world in 1937. This photo-history will explore her personal and professional history during a time when record breaking exploits were the sole domain of men.

World Religions

6 Thursdays, March 16 - April 20, 10:30 a.m., $60

This class will focus on six lesser known religions: Zoroastrianism, Jainism, Sikhism, Confucianism, Taoism and Shintoism. Each one-hour class will concentrate on one religion providing historical background, main beliefs and notable practices.
