Light Opera of New Jersey (LONJ) is now booking dates for its popular traveling troupe, Savoy Faire. Designed to delight and inspire, this one-hour program offers the perfect blend of entertainment and education, making it an ideal choice for libraries, schools, senior centers, and community fundraisers.
The 2026 Savoy Faire season features a concert staging of The Mikado, one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most beloved comic operas. With six professional singers and a pianist, audiences will enjoy a performance filled with witty satire, unforgettable melodies, and playful romance. Performances are available at your location between March 14 and May 11, 2026.
Set in the whimsical town of Titipu, The Mikado follows young lovers Nanki-Poo and Yum-Yum as they navigate absurd laws, tangled engagements, and the antics of the pompous Lord High Executioner. Known for its humor and charm, the opera continues to entertain audiences of all ages with its timeless blend of music and comedy.
“Savoy Faire is both accessible and engaging,” says Laura Zupa D’Avella, Founding Performer & Savoy Faire Coordinator. “It’s a wonderful way for communities to experience the magic of live performance without leaving their own venues.”
