Maine Dems Statement On Final Second Congressional District Debate

Government and Politics

October 9, 2024

Maine Democratic Party Chair Bev Uhlenhake released the following statement:

“Jared Golden is delivering for Mainers by lowering costs for seniors, investing in infrastructure, and supporting public safety.

“In Augusta, Austin Theriault voted against a bipartisan budget to make childcare & housing more affordable, support emergency medical services relied on by our rural communities, and give tax breaks to retirees. His record shows that he’s not ready to make tough choices in Washington D.C. and would wind up as another empty suit enabling the House GOP’s extreme and dysfunctional ‘leadership’ that is more focused on playing politics than delivering for Maine people.

“Mainers want a real leader representing us in Congress, not a rubber stamp for House Republicans’ extreme agenda. We are ready to re-elect Congressman Jared Golden on November 5 so that he can keep fighting for Maine people.”
