Maryland Democratic Party Launches Summer of Organizing to Energize Democrats, Hold Republicans Accountable, and Hear Directly from Voters

Government and Politics

July 17, 2025

Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Democratic Party today announced the launch of its Summer of Organizing, a statewide surge of activity, in coordination with the DNC’s Summer of Organizing program. Democrats will be focused on giving Marylanders an opportunity to be visible in their community, registering new voters, and shining a spotlight on the extreme Republican agenda that has made them historically unpopular at this point in the election cycle.

“The Maryland Democratic Party’s Summer of Organizing program is how we are going to ensure voters are engaged, build momentum, and show that Democrats are fighting back against the Republican extremism coming from Washington,” said Governor Wes Moore. “Organizing across the state in every county is how we grow our party, and it’s how we are going to elect democrats up and down the ballot.”

You can view the entire list of events here with several high profile events listed below:

  • Beto O’Rourke Town Hall – July 20, Baltimore, 3:00 PM: National organizer and former Congressman Beto O’Rourke partners with MDP to hear directly from Marylanders about the issues that matter most and to ensure voters are registered ahead of the 2026 midterms.
  • Flip-Virginia Blue Canvass Trips with Congresswoman Elfreth – Aug 3, Aug 23, Sept 14: Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth will lead Maryland volunteers to battleground Virginia to canvass for Abigail Spanberger and down-ballot Democrats.
  • MD Dems Talk Back Tour – Statewide, Kickoff in Frederick on 8/18: MDP leaders will visit every county to listen to local Democrats and chart strategies to grow the party and win everywhere.
  • Digital Week of Action – Aug 18–22: Activists across Maryland will flood social media with facts, stories, and calls to action that expose Republican extremism and ensure Democrats are engaged and ready to win.

“Republicans are peddling policies that roll back rights and hurt Marylanders,” said MDP Chair Steuart Pittman. “The Democratic Party is using this summer to travel to every corner of the state to hear directly from voters, organize Democrats to hold Republicans accountable, and grow our party to be set up for long term success.”

Throughout the summer, volunteers will also host voter-registration tables at festivals, rally local voters to oppose Republican politicians, engage in banner drops, and host sign waves whenever Republicans threaten Maryland values.

“I’m thrilled to help lead an effort with the Maryland Democratic Party during the Summer of Organizing to flip Virginia blue and begin the wave for 2026,” said Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth. “This is how we build momentum, energize our amazing volunteers, and most importantly, win back the majorities necessary to hold the Trump Administration accountable at all levels of government.”
