Boston, MA - In a recent interview, Governor Maura Healey showcased a stunning display of hypocrisy, misleading claims, and political posturing that put her national ambitions ahead of the well-being of Massachusetts residents. The Massachusetts Republican Party is calling out the Governor’s blatant contradictions and failures to address the real issues facing the Commonwealth. 

“Governor Healey wants to lecture others on leadership while she herself is weaponizing funding, hiking taxes, and misleading the public on the consequences of her policies,” said MassGOP Executive Director John Milligan. “Her administration has been defined by mismanagement, political gamesmanship, and a refusal to take responsibility.”

Weaponizing Funding While Accusing Others

During the interview, Governor Healey condemned the idea of using funding as leverage, criticizing former President Trump for allegedly withholding federal support. Yet, she is guilty of the very same tactic-punishing municipalities that do not comply with the MBTA Communities Act by withholding grants.

“The Governor’s hypocrisy is astounding,” said Milligan. “She decries federal funding decisions while strong-arming cities and towns right here in Massachusetts.”

Falsehoods and Finger-Pointing on the Migrant Crisis

Governor Healey continued her misleading narrative on immigration, falsely claiming that the migrant crisis began a year before she took office. In reality, the crisis began under her administration due to her refusal to enforce policies that would protect Massachusetts residents.

“She wants to blame everyone but herself-Trump, the federal government, even ‘public perception’-while conveniently ignoring the fact that it was her own inaction that led to this crisis spiraling out of control,” Milligan added.

Healey also claimed that most people in the state’s emergency shelter system are Massachusetts families. If true, the solution is simple: release the data. Yet, her administration has refused to provide transparency, dodging questions and keeping the public in the dark.

“Governor Healey keeps saying there’s nothing to hide-so why is she hiding everything?” said Milligan. “If she wants to prove her case, she should open the books instead of gaslighting voters.”

A National Ambition at the Expense of Massachusetts

Governor Healey’s performance made one thing clear: she is more focused on her rising influence within the Democratic Party than solving the problems of everyday Massachusetts residents.

“This is not the Maura Healey of Massachusetts-this is a national-stage Maura Healey, avoiding local press, dodging accountability, and positioning herself for a bigger political role,” said Milligan. “While she plays to Washington insiders, Massachusetts taxpayers are left paying the price for her failures.”

From out-of-control spending on the migrant crisis-now totaling nearly $2 billion-to policies that punish local communities, Governor Healey has repeatedly demonstrated that her priorities lie with party politics, not the people of Massachusetts.
