Maryland Democratic Party Chair Ken Ulman sent out the following statement on the passing of Former Congresswoman Beverly Byron:

Beverly Byron was a trailblazer whose service to Maryland and the nation will leave a lasting legacy. As one of the first women to represent Maryland in Congress, she broke barriers with grace and grit, dedicating herself to the well-being of military families, the security of our nation, and the preservation of our natural treasures. She carried the weight of history and expectation but never lost sight of the people she served. All Maryland Democrats honor her life and the profound impact she made on Maryland and beyond.

Senator Barbara Mikulski, Retired shared the following statement on the passing of Former Congresswoman Beverly Byron:

Joining with other Marylanders, we mourn the loss of Beverly Byron, a great advocate for our state and a real champion for the United States military. I worked very closely with Congresswoman Byron to bring resources to Western Maryland, jobs and opportunity for the region and support for men and women in the military.

She took a very keen interest in military families and what they needed as they protected us.

She was outdoorsy and I was indoorsy - we made a perfect combination. Bev Byron was a real trailblazer.
