Sembrando Herencia 2022 - Cangrejos y Café: 20th Musical - She came from a long-time, coffee growing family in Las Montañas. He was an Obrero from San Mateo de Cangrejos. Their friendship spanned lifetimes. In his ancestral past, she saved his life. He has returned to this lifetime to repay the debt.
This December we debut our 20th original musical rich in oral history! Set in the 1950s, it is a timeless story of gentrification and displacement.
Each year, our annual play combines original live music, dance, community theater, and cocobalé -- sticks & machete fighting -- to bring history to life and honor unsung heroes! Our musical will feature original Jibaro, Bomba, Plena, and Taino music!
Grateful thanks to Professor Lester Nurse Allende for sharing oral history of San Mateo de Cangrejos.
