From: Merryspring Nature CenterLocal artist Eric Darling will lead an outdoor presentation on his current exhibition, The Drift Rope Project, at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, June 20 at 12:00 pm.
The Drift Rope Project, installed at Merryspring Nature Center, is a public installation sculpture funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission to draw awareness of the potential of upcycled pot warp as an art medium that is both interactive and visual in nature. Darling, a self-taught artist native to New England earned a BA in Anthropology at San Diego State University. Interests such as photography, travel, and culture, as well as an overall appreciation for the natural world are all evident in his work. He oscillates between mediums using elements from his photography to catch impressions of fleeting moments with oil on canvas; or using finished wood panels and stains, and upcycled pot warp in mixed media assembly.
This program is part of the Summer Talk series at Merryspring, sponsored by Renys – A Maine Adventure, and co-sponsored by First National Bank and Camden Riverhouse Hotel. Attendance is free for members; $5 for non-members.
Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round. The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza.
