LANSING - In response to House Republicans passing Trump’s disastrous budget bill, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement: 

“Just moments ago, House Republicans, including Representatives John James, Tom Barrett, and Bill Huizenga, delivered a devastating blow to their constituents to appease Donald Trump and his billionaire backers. On Trump’s orders, House Republicans launched an attack on Michiganders, ripping away quality, affordable health care and taking food off of tables - all to give tax handouts to the top 1%. 

“Trump and Republicans’ catastrophic ‘billionaire first’ budget will devastate our economy, cost Michigan workers their jobs, and leave working families footing the bill for America’s wealthiest. These Republicans should be ashamed, and Michigan Democrats will continue to do everything we can to hold them accountable.”
