Clare Frank fought fires for nearly 30 years and served as the State of California’s first and only female Chief of Fire Protection. Her new book Burnt: A Memoir of Fighting Fire is an inspiring, richly detailed, and open-hearted account of an extraordinary life in fire. Frank appears in conversation with Elaine Wilkinson, Marin County's Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

Poetry and Science in the Outdoors

Emilie Lygren teaches this workshop focusing on connecting with nature through the lens of science and poetry. Participants will practice observation skills, explore the local environment, and write poems based on what they notice. All ages/levels of experience with poetry, science, and writing welcome!. In collaboration with the Marin Poetry Center.

This workshop is part of a series of events celebrating Poets for Science including an After Hours event with Pulitzer Prize winning poet Forrest Gander, Pop-Up Poetry in downtown Mill Valley, an interactive community thread poem, and an Exhibition.
