Consummate storyteller Josh Healey emcees our fall show. Our lineup includes Bay Area storytellers Reyna Amaya, Julie Soller, and Joshua Walters along with Mill Valley native and returning favorite Kari Kiernan. Audience members can drop their name in a hat to tell a one-minute story in the Lightning Round.
Adults and high school students only! Free wine reception at 6:30pm for pre-registered guests. Waitlist line opens up at 6:45 on a first come, first served basis.

Author Talk: The Female Sleuth

Best-selling and award-winning authors Rhys Bowen, Glenda Carroll, Susan Shea, and M.M. Chouinard gather to discuss one of their favorite protagonists: the female sleuth. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to engage with these fine authors as they share insights into the world of female detectives and their impact on modern literature. Panel discussion will be followed by book sales and signing.

Murder Mystery Escape Room

Grab your garters and moonshine, we're going back in time to solve a murder! You and your friends (4 people per team) get to play detective in this 1920's-themed murder mystery escape room. Participants will have one hour to gather the clues and solve the puzzles before time--and their luck--runs out. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

In a New York Minute: Readings by Bay Area Four Way Books Authors

Featured poets include Susan Browne, Peter Coyote, Brian Komei Dempster, Rebecca Foust and Cintia Santana. These Bay Area authors are recently or about-to-be published by Four Way Books (FWB), an independent publisher celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. FWB is comprised of a literary press, Pay a Book Forward, a prize program, and an electronic literary journal, Four Way Review. Founded in 1993 in NYC by Martha Rhodes and others, FWB quickly began earning a reputation for publishing high quality writing and each year releases 16-18 books of poetry, short story collections, and novellas.

Building Bridges Book Club

Read and discuss a book of poems with others who appreciate poetry and like to take a closer look at form, structure, and craft. Discussions will be lively and interactive, and participants will have a chance to share thoughts and ask questions. Come prepared to read favorite poems, lines, and passages from the book aloud. October's selection is Forest Primeval by Vievee Francis. The discussion will be led by Sandra Cross, who holds a MFA from Saint Mary’s College and serves as Chair and Membership Secretary of the Marin Poetry Center. Check out our Children’s Book Packs for babies through Grade 3. Fill out this quick form to let us know your child’s age and interests and we’ll pick out 10 (or more!) books and put them on the hold shelf for you.
Kids in Grades 4 through 8 can take their own online book quiz about books they’ve loved (and ones they’ve hated!) and we’ll send them a list of similar titles to check out. Great for both avid and reluctant readers!
Teens in Grades 6 through 12 get their own quiz, but the result is the same, book recommendations tailored to their personal interests!
