From: MMEA Elementary Festivals Explore MusicExplore Music is designed to give 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students a memorable musical experience, and to provide teachers with an opportunity to observe, share, and learn.
Each Elementary Festival will feature three presenters: one movement, one instrumental, and one vocal. These presenters will spend the day with the students helping them explore different aspects of music making and leading them through highly engaging and fun musical experiences. The day will culminate with an hour of “informance,” where parents, guardians, and teachers are invited to travel through the three spaces. Participating teachers need not be members of MMEA to bring students (although it is highly encouraged!) Students nominated by their sponsoring teachers need only to have a high interest in music and desire to participate in additional music making experiences. No specific experience or prior preparation is needed on the part of the student or the teacher with their group of students and see/hear a small sample of the work from the day.
We don’t have a firm cap per school for the first elementary festival post-covid. We are unsure of the demand and interest in this program which is being offered regionally. Likely, the cap will be around 10 per school, but you may add more names to your registration list (prioritizing those MOST interested in your top 10) and we will accommodate to the fullest extent of our capacity while maintaining access for all interested schools.
