From: Moraine Valley Community CollegeMoraine Valley names finalists in presidential search, public invited to forums
Moraine Valley Community College’s presidential search committee has identified three finalists for consideration as the college’s next president.
The finalists include Dr. Pamela Haney, vice president of Academic Affairs at Moraine Valley; Dr. Michelé Smith, vice president of Workforce Solutions at Harper College; and Dr. Evon Walters, president of Northwest Region for Community College of Allegheny County. Candidate photos and resumes are posted on the college’s search webpage, morainevalley.edu/presidential-search.
The community is invited to participate in open forums to learn about the candidates and ask questions. They will be held synchronously in person and online via Webex on May 8 for Walters, May 10 for Smith and May 11 for Haney at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day. Complete details, including links to finalist surveys, are available on the college’s search webpage, morainevalley.edu/presidential-search.
The national search for the college’s sixth president began in February after current president Dr. Sylvia Jenkins announced her retirement, effective June 30 after serving 11 years in the role. The presidential search is conducted at the direction of the Board of Trustees with the support of the Pauly Group—an academic search consulting firm. Position duties, responsibilities and qualifications were developed in conjunction with the college’s executive leadership team, faculty, staff, administrators, students and supporters.
The Board of Trustees is expected to select a presidential candidate at its May 16 meeting. The college will publicly announce the successful candidate at a later date.
