The Dedham Police Department invites you to come together again this year as we take part in National Night Out by hosting a week-long series of events throughout the community. From August 2 to August 7, neighborhoods across Dedham will host various gatherings for families and friends of all ages designed to promote crime prevention, connection, and support this public safety initiative. 

Most events listed below are designed to be kid-friendly and family-oriented, and all events are FREE and open to anyone interested in supporting this public safety initiative.

Saturday, August 2, 2025

Police Department Open House

Tour the police station. The Public Safety Building is the central command center for keeping Dedham safe - see the jail cells, booking station, and dispatch center. Also on display, police motorcycles, police cruisers and a Coastal Ambulance. Goody bags with safety tips and coloring books will be available for children. A trained police officer will also be available to conduct child car-seat-safety inspections.

Flag Football 

Kickoff National Night Out with a flag football game featuring members of the Dedham Police Department and Dedham High School students. Come cheer on the teams in this friendly competition.

Public Ice Skating

Beat the heat of summer at Boch Ice Center.  No need for the scarf or knit hat, enjoy summertime ice skating at Boch.  Whether you are getting ready for the coming season or just out for a twirl around the ice, experience the cool refreshing air of summer skating.

Oakdale Square Ice Cream Social

Come join friends and neighbors to socialize and enjoy ice cream on the Common in Oakdale Square. Enjoy FREE ice cream sundaes with a variety of toppings! Plus, kids’ activities, outdoor games, entertainment, and fun connecting with the community. A member of the State 911 Department will visit to pass out public education materials including activity books for k-4 and silent call and text-to-911 cards.

Lawn Games at the Endicott Estate

Join the Dedham Coalition for Equity and Inclusion for a fun evening of lawn games on the grounds of the Estate.  All ages are welcome.  Games will include cornhole, giant Jenga, tic tac toe, checkers, sack races, giant Connect Four and lawn bowling!

Picnic on the Town Green

Bring your own picnic dinner or buy your dinner in Dedham Square and enjoy your meal at the Dedham Square Circle free concert on the Town Green. Dance, sing or relax to the music of Folk musicians Lindsay Straw & Andy Cambria. Dedham Square Circle will have a free kids craft and cups stacking contest.

Custom tie-dye activity plus displays of emergency vehicles.

Flashlight Manor Neighborhood Walk

Enjoy an illuminating stroll with friends and family around the neighborhood.  The walk will begin at Terri’s Market, traverse Bonham, Trenton, Holmes, Sherman and Ardmore Roads before concluding at the Trenton Road playground where light refreshments including frozen treats will be available.  Walkers will be escorted by Dedham Police and Norfolk County Sheriff vehicles. 

    TIME: 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
    LOCATION: Manor Neighborhood - Meet at Terri’s Market, 12 Louise Road, Dedham, MA

Outdoor Cartoon Night at Condon Park: Featuring Classic Animated Cartoons

Bring a chair, blanket, family, friends, and a flashlight to guide your way to the Park for a family-friendly movie (bug spray is also recommended). Popcorn, snacks, and drinks will be available. Come see some animated magic under the stars. 

    TIME: 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (hot dogs and popcorn) and feature film from 8:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Riverdale Neighborhood Hot Dog and Ice Cream Social

Join friends and neighbors for a night off from cooking with outdoor games for kids of all ages, hot dogs, and ice cream! The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office will provide a public safety drone demonstration.  Come out and say hello to your neighbors! All ages are welcome.
