From: New Canaan LibraryHappy Holidays from our family to yours!
The Library is currently closed to the public.
After over a decade of preparation, we are excited to open the NEW New Canaan Library in February 2023. To ensure that our books are on the shelves and our team is ready to deliver excellent services in our new space, we need to briefly shut our doors to prepare for the move.
We eagerly look forward to reopening in the new space in February. MORE & FAQ>>

Contribute to the Library's Memory Book
Now through 12/31
As we get ready to transition into our NEW New Canaan Library building, we want to celebrate the wonderful memories that we’ve made together at New Canaan Library so far.
Please take a moment to share your favorite New Canaan Library memory! We’ll collect everyone’s contributions and bind them into a Memory Book, which will become part of the Library’s permanent collection.
We welcome writing or drawings from kids, teens, and adults! Feel free to snap a photo of your submission and email it to [email protected] or submit written memories here. We will continue to accept online submissions until December 31.

Annual Appeal 2022
In this season of giving, a gentle reminder that New Canaan Library is an independent 501(c)3 charity which depends on support from individuals like you. While the Town of New Canaan provides a grant that helps cover the Library’s operating expenses, the balance, about $800,000, must come from the generous support of our members. Your tax-deductible gift provides the exceptional collections, youth learning & literacy programs, adult programs, classes, and more. Thank you for your support!
The original library building will be preserved overlooking the new Green, creating a lovely and meaningful dialogue between past and future.
Local Libraries: Use your New Canaan Library card at any Connecticut public library to borrow books, DVDs, and other physical items. Simply take your physical New Canaan Library card and your photo ID to any CT library and they will register you as a borrower.
